Of course, as with all things, too much may negate those benefits, and moderation is the key. Studies have shown that red wine may prevent heart attacks, increase “good” cholesterol, and have anticoagulant and anti-inflammatory properties. White wine and champagne also have higher antioxidant effects, than red wine. And if you are seeking the lowest calorie option, champagne is your choice. Studies are now revealing that moderate white wine or champagne consumption may lessen chance of getting Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias. The phenolic acid found in the skins of black grapes, used to make champagne, helps to improve memory. In general, 1 five ounce glass of wine for women, and 2 glasses for men, three times a week should help reap the benefits without getting into any negative effects. And of course, nothing better for the spirit, than sitting around a campfire, with good friends, good food, good wine.
